There is only one way to learn about meditation – try it for yourself. One of the most supportive ways to learn and to continue a meditation practice is in community. Each class will include teaching, guided meditation, and some time for questions. No meditation experience needed. There are some chairs and yoga props available for sitting or bring your own cushion/bench. By donation.

This 10-week series will use the book Unhindered: A Mindful Path Through the Five Hindrances by Gil Fronsdal. In order to develop mindfulness, we need to understand what hinders mindfulness and how to be skillful with those hindrances. The book study and meditation class will give you access to important tools to either begin or deepen your practice. Each class will include teaching, guided meditation, and group sharing. You do not have to purchase the book to participate, and no meditation experience is needed. Chairs available for sitting. Instructor: Jill Davey. Unhindered (online)

A deep dive into the Hindrances. These mind states hinder mindfulness and wisdom in daily life and in meditation. In this series we will focus on each hindrance for a two week period. The first week I will share a short dharma talk with sutta references, a guided meditation and then open to group sharing. The second week will include more time for sharing and experience with the homework and your reflections from your home practice. This format would be repeated with each of the 5 Hindrances over the time of this series.
We will use Gil Fronsdal’s book Unhindered: A Mindful Path Through the Five Hindrances. It’s a small book and easy to read. Try to support your local bookstore if you’re able. This course is being offered in the tradition of Dana (donation to support the teacher and the continuation of the dhamma. This can be offered weekly, monthly, or as you wish.
